V. Destiny
This text will concentrate on the "realtionship" between Watanuki and
Doumeki. But first
I like to state the following:
I'm
NOT a Donuts-supporter. I'm not having a problem with shounenai, I just
think it's ridiculous to pair those two up. Watanuki dislikes Doumeki from the bottom
of his heart (I didn't say hate, just dislike, that's not the same. So don't bitch!)
and
Doumeki sees Watanuki as a friend. If Clamp's really going to make this pair, I
will write them an angry letter. But I don't belive this will ever going to happen.
Anyways, let's get startet!
Doumeki Shizuka is heir of an temple and has inherited his grandpas power of expel bad
spirits. This makes him the perfect choice to help Watanuki with his little problem.
Whenever Doumeki is around, the bad spirits are not attacking Watanuki. They are still
near him, but they don't approch him as hard as they would without
Doumeki. So,
Yuuko tries to keep the two of them together whenever possible. She did not fulfill
Watanukis wish until now, so glue him to
Doumeki is all she can do, to at least create
the feeling she has. It really it strange. Her other clients got their wishes fulfilled
immeditaely after speaking it out and had to pay later. Watanuki pays with his work
and up until now, nothing much has happened. Except
Doumeki of course. There are theories
about it could be possible, that
Yuuko wants to make Watanuki the new owner of her shop
lateron and so he will need his power later (because
Yuuko can see, or at least feel,
bad spirits, too, can't she?) So
Doumeki's powers of expel these bad spirits is kind of
her shield to keep Watanuki.
Another theorie would be, that
Yuuko is not able to fulfill the wish herself. But
that's stupid, forget that.
So, about the Donuts-thing. There are many hints about a possible pairing like this.
Like in the chapter with the Hyakkiyako where
Yuuko writes a note to them, which reads
"...just like a bride and groom cut the weedingcake together" or the fact that
Watanuki behaves like a housewife while
Doumeki has the role of the husband (Watanukis
making bento for him, Doumeki's doing ... nothing). Their destiny is interwoven, no
doubt about that, but is that really a reason to pair them up? If Watanuki really's
going to become
Yuukos successor
Doumeki won't be able to visit the shop, because
he has not need to do so. Their destiny may be crossing at this time, but as soon as
Watanuki gets his wish fulfilled, that thread will twitch and they go their own ways.
Doumeki's power is not necessary anymore.
